The III ICoMiR

The 3rd International Conference of the CSEM its title: Dialogues to understand, humanize and value people on the move and aims to analyze and debate migratory trends from the perspectives of academia, civil society, migrant collectives and government entities, promoting a comprehensive and multidimensional understanding of contemporary migrations, both South-North and South-South migrations.

It will take place on May 19-22, 2025in Brasilia, Brazil.
Bilingual event (Portuguese and English)
Analysis of contemporary migration trends (South-North and South-South).
A space for sharing experiences and building inclusive knowledge.
Promoting public policies focused on migrants' rights.

General Objective:
To promote a qualified, broad and multidimensional understanding and discussion of contemporary migration and refuge (South-North and South-South flows) with the active participation of academics, social workers, pastoralists, migrant and refugee collectives, civil society, international organizations and the government.

Expected results:

  1. Strengthening networks and sharing experiences from previous conferences.
  2. Create and consolidate collaboration networks between all the players involved.
  3. Encourage innovative studies on migration with a focus on human rights.
  4. Establish a lasting legacy of collaborative action.
  5. Produce and disseminate the Final Document in order to have an impact on society.


Conference methodology:
The conference will feature round tables that will discuss global migration trends and other keys to understanding migration and refuge. The main conferences will address the protagonism and agency of migrants, while the Working Groups and Colloquia will promote the exchange of knowledge between academics, migrants and other actors. The event will culminate in a final document, reflecting the discussions and proposing concrete actions with a potential impact on migration policies and human rights.

As in previous editions, the CSEM International Conference aims to be a space for knowledge, exchange and dialogue that has an impact on the actions of various social sectors in favor of and for migrants and refugees.
