Vida y Protagonismo en las Fronteras - Advocacy for the right of migrants and refugees to have rights

Between the 21st and 23rd of 2023, in the city of Tijuana, Mexico, the II International Conference "PROMOTING LIFE ON THE BORDERS: Impacto de la Sociedad Civil en el Empoderamiento de Migrantes y Refugiados y su Derecho a Tener Derechos", organized by the Scalabrinian Center for Migration Studies (CSEM) in collaboration with the Iberoamerican University of Tijuana, the Mother Assunta Institute of Tijuana, the Scalabrinian Mission to Migrants and Refugees (SMR) of Mexico City, the Scalabrinian Foundation of Rome and the Jesuit Refugee Service of Mexico, with the support of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart - Germany, MISEREOR and ADVENIAT.

One of the main objectives of this event was to strengthen the capacity of civil society at regional, national and international level to promote the role of migrants and refugees in defending their rights, which is the guiding principle of the CSEM's activities as established by the institution's Central Guideline. In this sense, rather than simply providing prefabricated answers, the 2nd International Conference of the CSEM sought to stimulate debate on the management of the challenges posed by the migratory phenomenon, especially in the South-South, Latin American and Caribbean contexts. This book celebrates the meetings, debates and exchanges held at the 2nd CSEM International Conference.
