Survey shows risks faced by Venezuelans on the move

A survey of Venezuelans who have left their country revealed that half (50.2%) of the families interviewed faced or continue to face specific risks during their journeys due to factors such as age, gender, health and other needs. There are also those who had to make drastic decisions to survive, including begging, child labor or prostitution.

These factors are among the findings of research published on Friday (19) by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The results are based on 7,846 interviews conducted in several Latin American and Caribbean countries from January to June 2019, in which people were asked about their experiences.
